Ground Up Brewing

WHAT WE OFFER

OUR STORY
We started brewing from the Ground Up in 2015 on a small 100L system. Over the next 2 years we brewed 80 different beers and styles often twice a day perfecting our recipes. In 2017 we purchased a 1000L brew house which is now 45 years old and was originally installed in a Christchurch Brew Bar and is one of Terry McGlashan original brew houses. This is an iconic part of NZ brewing industry and has been totally refurbished and to be part of a hugely successful craft brewery.
What sets us apart?
Ground Up was inspired by a couple of climbers with a passion for craft beers and close links to the climbing community. Jules the owner and brewer is a passionate climber with our brewery starting from the Ground Up and the beers being named after climbing routes. Their names all have a story to tell and are from around the world.
We have 23 taps in our tap room which are all brewed in house, we also make other non-alcoholic beverages in house and serve top quality wines from around this region. Our small team is involved in brewing, packaging, and distributing craft beers across NZ from our inhouse production facility. Our beers are available and pouring in many restaurants and bars around the region and throughout the country.
Most Famous Style?
Our lagers and dark beers are what set us apart. Our lager is made in the traditional style of European lager and is poured on the Czech side pour tap. We are the only brewery in the south of the South Island to produce a great range of dark, stouts, red ambers and porters and these are pouring on Nitro both in the taproom and in local restaurants.
