Tuatara Brewery

How we started
At the turn of the century Tuatara Brewery began its historical contribution to the NZ beer scene from humble beginnings, a backyard shed on Carl Vasta's Kapiti Coast farm. Carl's purpose was to brew beers that he and his mates enjoyed drinking.

What sets us apart
With significant growth in the NZ craft industry and two NZ Champion Brewery wins, the Brewery promise to "create memorable and uniquely Aotearoa beer experiences". With the gradual use of more NZ grown Motueka hops and Canterbury malts, the taste and aroma profiles have led to core styles evolving from traditional to distinctively Kiwi brews. Their limited and seasonal releases supplement these 'tried and true' with old and new world experimentation.

Tuatara have two tap rooms in the Wellington region, The Third Eye found in the city's veritable craft heart of Te Aro, featuring Tuatara experimental and their 'mates' brews on tap. The Kapiti brewery's tap room has exclusively Tuatara experimental, limited release and seasonal beers.

Both have in and outdoor seating with casual menus. Food trucks and regular entertainment also feature each month.

Most famous style
Aotearoa Pale Ale Pilsner
