How we started

Sprig + Fern Brewing Co. started in sunny Nelson-Tasman, supplying the original few Sprig + Fern Taverns with a range
award-winning beer and cider, and has steadily grown from there.

Now, you'll find craft beer and cider, hard soda and non-alcoholic options on tap in fifteen Sprig + Fern Taverns in Nelson
Tasman, Wellington and Christchurch - plus other bars, cafes, restaurants, supermarkets and liquor stores right across the
country.

What sets us apart

Our Master Brewer, Tracy Banner - known as the 'Mother of NZ Brewing' - has more than four decades in the industry, and is a respected national and international beer judge and mentor. Safe to say she knows her way around an award-winning brew!

Alongside a core range of tried-and-tested brews, you'll find regular limited release beers making their way to taps and shelves, which showcase a range of styles and flavours – whether from the latest specialty malts, new and exciting hop varietals, or innovative brewing methods.

As for Sprig + Fern Taverns, while they vary in shape and size, they’re all cosy, family-friendly and welcoming. We deliberately have no TVs, no pokies and no pool tables, so there’s no distractions from great conversations – nor from the award-winning craft beer and cider, local wines, spirits, soft drinks, meals and snacks.

Most famous style

That depends who you ask! Our most-awarded beer is The G.O.A.T Doppelbock, having won numerous national and international beer awards including a recent Best In Class trophy at the Brewers Guild of New Zealand Beer Awards. The G.O.A.T typically makes an appearance in winter, either in cans, bottles, or on tap at Sprig + Fern Taverns.

For all other times, you can't go past a proper pint of Fern Lager or Tasman Reserve - both staples of our core range, and both customer favourites.
