How we started

Shortjaw Brewing is a new team in an old brewery.

In 2021 we took over the old West Coast Brewery (Miner's Brewery) in Westport New Zealand. Since then we have set about revitalising

the 30 year old equipment, with new recipes and a new approach.

What sets us apart

All of our core-range beers are made with hops and malt entirely from the South Island. We are all about celebrating New Zealand's

place in the global beer industry and always have something new on in the taproom. We also have a rotating range of guest beer, cider, and even NZ wine on tap.

Most Famous Style

Kiwi Dark Lager - it can be traced back 30 years, when Miner's Dark was first brewed in this brewery. We have kept that tradition going

with our take on an easy drinking dark lager that's just as good on a sunny afternoon as it is by the fireplace on a winter's night.
