OUR STORY
The Emerson's story begins in ancient times, also known as the eighties. A young, impressionable Richard spent some time living in Edinburgh (sometimes referred to as the Dunedin of the north). He was fascinated by the culture – the pub culture that is – and soon took to it like a fish to water.
Emerson’s was first brewed in August of 1991, producing a meagre four and a half liters on a stove in a kitchen by a young, excitable Richard Emerson.
What sets us apart?
Emerson's is one of NZs original modern day craft breweries. Founded by Richard Emerson, who continues to be an integral part of the business. Now considered the godfather of NZ craft beer. Emerson's still brews some of Richards original recipes, London Porter, 1812 Pale Ale and Bookbinder along with edgy modern beers Hazed & Confused Hazy Pale Ale and Super Quench Lower Carb Pacific Pilsner.
