Bootleg Brewery Was Born In 2016 Out Of A Love For Beer And A Belief That Kiwis Deserved The Best Craft Beer In The World.

For Too Long New Zealand’s Beer Market Has Been Dominated By Brewing Giants Who Have Forgotten That Great Beer Does Not All Taste The Same.

We Believe In Supporting Independent Breweries & The Communities That Surround Them.

What sets us apart

Based in the Old Matangi Dairy Factory, our Taproom and Brewery location is one of the most unique and cool spaces in the Country. The old industrial buildings, rusty metal, and concrete create an atmosphere that is unlike anything else in NZ.

Most Famous Style

Our most celebrated beer is our Apehanger IPA, but we are becoming widely known for our Belgian Styles and Dark beers. Over the last 12 months we have won many awards for our Belgians and dark beers, brewed on site in Matangi. We are also currently ranked 6th in NZ breweries on UNTAPPED. Our taproom has 15 taps and you will always be able to find a style to suit your tastebuds, whether it be a Bootleg brew or one from another independent NZ brewery.
